2024: ‘There will be surplus’ – Osun lawmaker, Irekandu assures Obokun constituents, promises continuation of meaningful interventions
The lawmaker representing Obokun State Constituency in the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Adewumi Adeyemi, popularly known as Irekandu, has given Osun residents, particularly his constituents, the assurance that 2024 will be a fruitful and surplus year.
This is contained in the New Year message personally signed by the philanthropic legislator and made available to newsmen on Monday, 1st of January 2024.
The young lawmaker claims that the Adeleke-led administration’s heavily loaded 2024 budget is focused on capital and people development.
Governor Adeleke is cognizant of the suffering caused by inflation and the removal of fuel subsidies.” Upon deeper examination of the State’s 2024 budget, it becomes clear that the goal is to raise Osun people’s level of living. Adewumi continued, “I’m positive that 2024 will be a year of surplus for the people of Osun State.
He urged the National and State Assemblies across the nation the duty to review, reduce, and adjust luxury items in the 2024 budgets and reallocate the funds for the welfare of citizens while acknowledging the anguish and suffering of ordinary Nigerians in the previous year due to the removal of fuel subsidies caused by inflation, which made life more difficult.
“The state of the economy is dire.” It is concerning how much agony Nigerians are going through. He went on to say that the National and State Assemblies must establish itself as an institution of the people and make sure that the well-being of the people comes first by allocating money intended for opulent purchases to initiatives that lessen misery among the populace.
Adewumi, the lawmaker who is also an architect, stated that he will continue his several developmental and people-oriented initiatives for his constituents.
The architect also made an appeal to stakeholders and the government at all levels to engage in projects or services that would make life easier and more comfortable for the people.
My team and I will be concentrating more on initiatives linked to education and citizen empowerment, the lawmaker added.
