The Jigawa State Government said ending farmers and herdsmen crises require collective responsibility from both the parties and other stakeholders.
State Deputy Governor, Engineer Aminu Usman Gumel, disclosed this while speaking at the inaugurating of newly elected executives of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Jigawa State chapter, held in Dutse.
He called for collective responsibility and commitment from all stakeholders to end the lingering.
The Deputy Governor urged herdsmen and farmers to collaborate with the state Government in finding lasting solutions to farmers herders conflicts across the state.
He said the administration of Governor Umar Namadi is committed to improving the livelihoods of Fulani cattle rearers, stressing that the establishment of a Ministry of Livestock was aimed at addressing the challenges confronting herders in the state.
Mr. Gumel, congratulated the new executives, also urged members of the association to participate in the ongoing voter registration exercise, describing it as a vital tool for electing credible leaders.
Earlier, the National Chairman of MACBAN, Alhaji Baba Usman Nganjarma, assured that the association would continue to work closely with the government to promote peace and development between farmers and herders.
He charged the newly elected executives to discharge their duties in line with the association’s constitution, warning that any official found wanting would be replaced.
