Kaugama LG Approves Promotion of 24 Staff, Formalizes 29 as Permanent and Pensionablep

Kaugama, Jigawa State — In a decisive move to motivate productivity and reward diligence within the local government system, the Kaugama Local Government Council has approved the promotion of 24 staff members and the formalization of 29 others into permanent and pensionable appointments.

The exercise, held at the council’s conference hall, followed a promotion committee sitting aimed at strengthening professionalism and boosting morale among the workforce. The sitting was chaired by the Director of Administration and General Services, Shu’aibu Na-abbo, who urged staff to strictly adhere to civil service rules while working proactively to advance the council’s developmental objectives.

Speaking after the exercise, the Local Government Staff Officer and Secretary of the Promotion Committee, Abdullahi Dauda Guri, disclosed that representatives of the Local Government Service Commission, Usman Kyawa and Hadiza Tijjani, were in attendance to observe the process. He said the Commission reaffirmed its commitment to promoting deserving staff and supporting eligible officers to undertake in-service training at tertiary institutions as part of capacity-building efforts.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Kaugama Branch, Comrade Shu’aibu Shu’aibu, commended the Council Chairman, Honourable Usman Masaki Dansule, for approving the promotion of qualified personnel. He described the decision as a clear demonstration of leadership’s resolve to uphold fairness, motivation, and career progression in the local government service.

Comrade Shu’aibu also praised the Local Government Service Commission for its recent inspection tour of councils across the state, noting that the exercise had reinforced punctuality, discipline, and a renewed commitment among workers to exceed standard civil service expectations.

The latest promotions add to a growing record of staff advancement in Kaugama Local Government Area. Last year alone, over 70 senior and junior staff were promoted across various grade levels, underscoring the council’s sustained commitment to workforce development and institutional efficiency.
