58 out of the 69 students wrongly accused by EFCC in OAU regain their freedom
The Economic Financial Crimes Commission last night released 58 out of 69 students of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, arrested earlier on Wednesday, November 1.
The operatives of the anti-graft agency carried out a sting operation and arrested no fewer than 70 students of the university.
Recall that Daily Impact reported that EFCC stormed the Fine Touch and Superb hostels in Oduduwa Estate, Ile-Ife, at about 2am, broke into rooms, and arrested the students.
According to a statement released by the agency claimed that they were arrested following actionable intelligence on their suspected involvement in fraudulent internet-related activities. The agency claimed credible intelligence linked Oduduwa Estate with activities of suspected internet fraudsters.
The statement mentioned that items recovered include exotic cars, 190 mobile phones and 40 laptops among others.
Later in the night, 58 of the arrested students were released after they were found not guilty.
