Police and NSCDC Reassure Residents and Voters of Sufficient Security for Rerun
Police and Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) in Jigawa have assured residents, voters and other stakeholders of adequate security during Saturday’s Birninkudu/Buji Federal Constituency rerun election.
The commands’ Public Relations Officers in the state, DSP Lawan Shiisu and ASC Badaruddeen Tijjani, gave the assurance in separate statements made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse on Friday.
Shiisu said the police had adopted proactive measures to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free rerun election in the state.
He said the command had deployed adequate personnel to ensure peaceful conduct of the election.
The spokesperson added that about 30 policemen were expected to man each of the eight polling units, in collaboration with other security agents.
On his part, the NSCDC spokesperson said the command had also deployed adequate personnel in strategic locations in the constituency.
Tijjani said the action was aimed at guaranteeing the safety and security of the entire exercise.
He reported the NSCDC Commandant in the state, Muhammad Danjuma, as restating the commitment of the corps to uphold the democratic process by ensuring that voters could cast their votes without fear of intimidation.
The deployment of personnel is part of a comprehensive security strategy to mitigate potential challenges and ensure the credibility of the by-election.
The commandant appeals to all stakeholders, including political parties, candidates and the public, to collaborate with the deployed security personnel.
