Ekiti: Fabiyi raises alarm over hoodlums’ attack on residence

Oluwasayo Fabiyi, a former All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the House of Representatives, has claimed that a domestic staff member was killed in an attack on his home by political thugs believed to be loyal to Olaojo Temitope Vincent.

In addition, Fabiyi charged that Olaojo Vincent, a previous candidate for the House of Assembly, was the mastermind behind the thugs’ attack on his home in the Elewuro region of the state.

Hon. Fabiyi disclosed this to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday, April 13, 2023, through a signed statement.

Fabiyi was a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member who, a few weeks prior to the state’s general election in 2023, switched to the All Progressives Congress.

While accusing Olaojo Vincent of purposefully undermining his chances of leading the party in the 2023 National Assembly election by endorsing a different candidate, Fabiyi said that Vincent, along with his political lieutenant, Ige Adebayo, hired goons to intimidate and harass his supporters.

According to Fabiyi, a group of political goons broke into Elewuro’s home and opened fire on it.

He claimed that Roseline, a domestic staff member, died in the assault.

Around 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, a domestic staff worker was killed by a squad lead by political thug Scorpion on behalf of Ige Adebayo, a political sidekick of politician Olaojo Temitope Vincent, who is on the run.

Fabiyi claims that the attack continued for about forty-five minutes.

These criminals entered the compound by smashing my gate. They shot at my house, smashed my front door, and caused millions of dollars’ worth of damage to other properties.

Fabiyi called Olaojo Temitope Vincent a cowardly politician who fled the nation after his party’s ticket for the House of Assembly was not secured. Vincent, according to Fabiyi, had become an errand boy, sending orders to his political cronies to harass people from overseas.

“I recognize the power play.” Vincent desired that Ige lead the party in the assembly election as its flagbearer. He feels betrayed because their intentions were not successful. His twofold loss is not my fault. He was turned down by the group. I became quiet when I realized I had not received a ticket for the party. I didn’t start any problems.

In response to the development, Ige Adebayo called the accusation “false, misleading, and untrue.”

“I send Hon. Fabiyi my condolences on his loss, particularly about the passing of his domestic staff. I pray to God that the family will have the strength to deal with the priceless loss. The claims made by Hon. Fabiyi, according to which my leader and I were accountable for the tragic event, caught me off guard.

It’s the twenty-first century. Our passion in development stems from our youth as politicians. We reject all forms of violence, be they verbal or physical, because such behavior will not allow us to create a better society. Honorable Fabiyi deserves no harm for seeking public office, and neither I nor my leader, Honorable Olaojo, deserve to be blackmailed over our decision.

I also urge law enforcement to adequately look into this and apprehend those who commit these crimes.

Using this as a chance, let me make it very clear that we know nothing about the incident, and I will be here to help the police with their investigation, he continued.
