Baby Born in Osun State Teaching Hospital Donates Multi-Million Medical Equipment

It was emotional homecoming for Ifejesu Salam, as she on Wednesday, donated a portable Ultrasound Machine and literary materials worth over 3.5 million naira to the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department of Osun State University Teaching Hospital, the same medical facility where she was born as a baby.

Ifejesu, daughter of Rep Bamidele Salam of Ede federal constituency of Osun State, who studied at the prestigious University of Minnesota,, a foremost research institute in the United States of America and recently completed her MPH Internship at the obstetrics department of the Osun State University medical facility, Osogbo, commended the management and staff of Uniosun Teaching Hospital for their commitment to their calling as life savers, in the midst of very limited resources, pointing out that, she has concluded arrangements for the smooth installation of ultrasound machine for use of the hospital.

According Ifejesu, the additional modern ultrasound machine will no doubt, enable healthcare providers at the hospital conduct on-site obstetric and gynaecology examinations more efficiently, aiding in timely diagnosis and management of various health issues developed by expectant mothers, who according to her, throng the hospital on daily basis for their healthcare needs.

Mrs Oluwaseyi Salam, the America trained nurse assured the hospital that the ultrasound machine was carefully selected for meeting all required standards for clinical use in any part of the world.

Receiving the ultrasound machine and the medical journals on behalf of the management, the chief medical director of Uniosun Teaching Hospital, Dr Peter Olaitan described Ifejesu as an uncommon breed of research student as well as the first in the record of the hospital, who had the heart of giving back to the facility, let alone donating such equipment as essential as ultrasound machine to aide their medical services to the people.

Similarly, Dr A.O Atanda, Ifejesu’s preceptor and the Consulting Doctor, at obstetrics department, Uniosun Teaching Hospital, eulogized the Awo born Nurse for her work ethics and her unmitigated humility, asking her to continue to live true to such rare attribute, as such could only continue to serve as catalyst to help her through the pinnacle of her chosen profession. He also expressed appreciation on behalf of Doctors and staff of the department for the donated equipments.

Uniosun Teaching Hospital Head of Obstetrics department, Dr Femi Ala, senior nurses and other members of staff of the hospital were also present at the presentation ceremony.
