Gas Explosion Claims Life of Mother and Daughter in Ogun
At least two people have lost their lives in a gas explosion in Ogun State, the police have said.
The incident happened on Ebute Road in the Ibafo area of the south-west on Sunday night.
The deceased persons are a 40-year-old woman identified as Rafiat Sheriff and her seven-year-old daughter, Asisat.
The incident happened after the mother told her daughter to make them dinner but in the process of lighting up the gas their house became engulfed in fire killing the two of them.
The Ogun State police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident.
She disclosed that two other persons sustained injuries from the explosion and have been hospitalised.
She said “The incident occurred last night when the mother told her seven-year-old daughter to cook. The girl was attempting to light up the gas cylinder when the entire house went up in flames.
“The mother and the child lost their lives in the explosion. Two other girls, including one of the children of the deceased, are currently receiving treatment in the hospital.”
