PDP Suspends Former Gov, Ortom

A one time Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, along with three other officials, has been suspended by the Benue Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over alleged anti-party activities.

The suspension was announced following a meeting of the State Working Committee (SWC) of the PDP in Makurdi.

The individuals suspended alongside Ortom include the state Deputy Chairman of PDP, Isaac Mffor, and the state Publicity Secretary, Bemgba Iortyom. The suspensions were confirmed in a statement released on Monday by the Media Consultant of the PDP, Cornelius Hwande.

Hwande stated that Ortom’s suspension was due to his endorsement of the Labour Party candidate in the 2023 election and his statement urging the Benue PDP to vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 Presidential election.

Additionally, the party’s Vice Chairman of Zone A, Azua Ashongo, was suspended for gross insubordination and indiscipline. Mffor and Iortyom were suspended for their involvement in the snatching of Congress materials intended for the conduct of last Saturday’s ward congresses in Buruku and Ushongo local government areas.
