Osun Progressives Youth, United Kingdom Critizes Adeleke’s neglect of Erin-Ijesa waterfall
Governor Ademola Adeleke has faced criticism over the neglect of the popular Erin-Ijesha Waterfall in the Ori-Ade local government area, where the water has become polluted with debris.
A video that surfaced online on Tuesday, August 13, revealed the extent of the neglect and the polluted state of the water.
A tourist criticized the state government, remarking, “The reliance on monthly allocations from the federal government has made states complacent, failing to develop their own economies.”
The Osun Progressives Youth in the United Kingdom (O-SPYUK), through its coordinator Tunmise Ajiboye, also condemned the Osun government for the deteriorating condition of the Erin-Ijesha Waterfall.
He said: “It is unfortunate that our values as a state are fast becoming a wasteland quickly within two years of the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke. All the tourist sites that ought to be generating revenue for the state have been abandoned like Erin-Ijesa Waterfall, Kiriji War Site, and Osun Osogbo Groove among others.
“The huge monthly allocation that Osun is receiving has made this present administration not look inward on ways to generate revenue. I urge the government to pay attention to the values we have in the state.”
Meanwhile, the Osun State government through the Commissioner for Information, Kolapo Alimi, disclosed that the government is implementing a systemic upgrade after decades of neglect by previous administrations.
The commissioner noted that the tourism infrastructure upgrade plan covers the Osun groove, Owala inland beach resort in Olorunda local government, Sango Timi Shrine in Ede local government, Ayunkunnugba waterfalls in Oke-Ila Orangun, in Ifedayo local government, and other cultural sites.
