Phase 2 – Irekandu Skills to Wealth Initiative: 200 Women Empowered in Obokun Constituency
In the realm of public service, Hon. Adewumi Adeyemi Irekandu stands out as he advances the second phase of his initiative to empower young women in the Obokun State Constituency.
As previously reported by Daily Impact, the Adewumi Adeyemi Foundation, in partnership with the Enterprise Development Center (EDC) of Pan-Atlantic University, launched the first phase of a comprehensive entrepreneurship training program in Obokun Constituency.
The second phase of this initiative, which commenced on Thursday in Ilare-Ijesa, aims to provide participants with essential entrepreneurial knowledge and skills to foster economic self-reliance and sustainable development.
During the opening ceremony of the second phase, Hon. Adewumi Adeyemi highlighted that the initial phase of the program had seen 200 young women selected from a large pool of applicants for a two-day intensive training session. This second phase also includes 200 young women from the local Obokun State Constituency, with plans for the third phase to introduce the Irekandu Ladies Cooperative.
Hon. Adeyemi emphasized that the training is intended to impart practical knowledge and skills crucial for successful entrepreneurship, underscoring his belief that true empowerment starts with education and skill development.
“This training program is part of a broader empowerment strategy. We received approximately a thousand applications from across the constituency, and while 200 young women were chosen for this phase, the program will continue in future batches of 200 participants each,” Adeyemi explained. He also expressed gratitude to the EDC for their invaluable support and collaboration, highlighting the program’s long-term benefits. “I am dedicated to continuing this initiative and supporting these young women in their business endeavours. The impact of this program will be felt for years to come,” he added.
