Two Years of Progress: Governor Adeleke’s Achievements in Obokun State Constituency

As the privileged Representative of Obokun State Constituency in the Osun State House of Assembly, I deem it essential to highlight the significant strides made under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Ademola Adeleke, over the past two years. His administration has consistently prioritised the welfare of workers, empowerment of vulnerable groups, and infrastructure development, delivering tangible benefits to the people of Obokun State Constituency.

 

Below is a summary of key achievements during this period:

 

*Worker Welfare*

 

Consistent and Timely Salary Payments: Salaries are paid on time, ensuring financial stability for civil servants.

 

Payment of Arrears: The Governor has begun clearing the backlog of half salaries inherited from previous administrations.

 

Gratuity Payments: Retirees are being compensated as promised.

 

Pension Payments: Pensioners are being paid regularly, restoring dignity and financial security to our senior citizens.

 

Free Healthcare Services for Pensioners: The administration has commenced free health care services for pensioners.

 

Minimum Wage Implementation: The introduction of a ₦75,000 minimum wage across all levels of government reflects the Governor’s commitment to improving the standard of living for all workers.

 

*Support for Persons with Disabilities*

 

Provision of Essential Aids: Tools such as wheelchairs have been distributed to enhance mobility and independence for persons with disabilities.

 

Access to Free Healthcare: People with disabilities now enjoy free health services, ensuring their well-being and quality of life.

 

Free Education: The newly enacted Disability Law includes provisions to ensure free education for persons with disabilities, promoting inclusivity and opportunity.

 

*Youth Development Initiatives*

 

Imole Youth Corps: Set to roll out soon, providing job opportunities and fostering skill development for youths in Obokun Constituency. (This is captured in the 2025 budget).

 

Teacher Recruitment: Ongoing efforts will enhance education quality and create additional employment opportunities for young professionals. (This is captured in the 2025 budget).

 

*Developmental Projects*

 

*Education*

 

Construction of a block of two classrooms at Methodist Primary School, Ilare, improving access to quality education for local pupils.

 

Provision of motorised deep wells at St. Paul Primary School, Ilase, and Methodist Primary School, Iregun, ensuring access to clean water for schools.

 

*Healthcare*

 

Upgrade and renovation of Ajedun PHC, Imesi-Ile, providing modern facilities for better healthcare delivery.

 

Upgrade and renovation of Ilare PHC, ensuring quality healthcare services for the community.

 

*Road Infrastructure*

 

Construction of Odowo–Ayetoro Junction–Oja Tuntun–Igbajo/Imesi-Ile Road and Ita Ijana–Olowu Olojudu Street, with a spur to Itiwo-Ile Asaba Street, Imesi Ile.

 

Construction of Mission Road–Oke Eyindi–Maternity Road, Ilare.

 

Construction of Oke Oye–Oke Ita Road, with a spur to Ogodogbo and Temidire Road, Ibokun.

 

 

These projects address long-standing challenges that had been ignored for decades, finally bringing development to critical areas.

 

 

*Looking Ahead: Some Other Proposed Projects in the 2025 Budget*

 

Fixing of Ilahun-Ijesa – Ere Collapsed Bridge.

 

Rehabilitation of Imesi-Ile to Esa-Oke Road.

 

Rehabilitation of Ibokun to Adaowode Road.

 

Rehabilitation of Otan-Ile to Ilare to Esa-Odo Road.

 

Development of Ward 05 Roads.

 

*Upcoming Agricultural Development*

 

On Tuesday, 13th December 2024, His Excellency will launch the Imole Agropreneur Model Project at Imesi-Ile. This landmark initiative will establish Ijesha North as the agricultural hub of the state, furthering the administration’s commitment to transforming agriculture and creating sustainable opportunities for our people.

 

*Political Appointments*

 

The Governor has ensured political inclusion by appointing numerous individuals from Obokun Constituency to key roles, including:

 

A commissioner.

 

Special advisers.

 

A board chairperson.

 

Members of other boards.

 

Among many other political appointments.

 

This reflects his commitment to equitable representation and grassroots development.

 

*Acknowledging the Road Ahead*

 

While much progress has been made, it is important to recognise that governance is a continuous process. No administration can address every challenge or complete every project in just two years. However, His Excellency, Governor Ademola Adeleke, has laid a foundation for sustainable growth and development.
