Kidnapped Ondo Cleric, Family Regain Freedom

An Anglican Church cleric, Rev. Canon Olowolagba, wife and two children who were abducted by gunmen along the Ise/lboropa-Akoko Road in Akoko North-East Local Government Area of Ondo State have regained their freedom.

The Commander of Amotekun Corps in Ondo State, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, revealed that the victims have been reunited with their loved ones.

He, however, did not disclose how the victims regained their freedom from their captors.

The victims were said to be returning from a wedding in Ikaramu-Akoko, on Thursday when the incident happened.

Recall it was earlier reported that kidnappers demanded a ransom of N75 million for the release of the victims.

Confirming the development, the Bishop of Akoko Anglican Diocese, Rt. Reverend Babajide Bada said, “The man involved is Reverend Olowolagba. He was travelling from Ipesi, with his wife, Mrs Olowolagba, and their 16-year old daughter, Goodness Olowolagba, a 100-level student of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba- Akoko (AAUA), who came for holiday at home, and a nine-year old girl staying with them, identified as Idowu.

“They called to ask for N75million ransom. And we said that’s very unreasonable. Later, they said N10 million.

“But when we’d gathered some money to go and secure their release, they changed to N15million,” the Reverend said.
