DSS Arrests Blogger For Cloning website, Posting Fake Recruitment Notice

A 32-year-old blogger, Sylvester Victor Augustus, has been arrested by the operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) for cloning the agency’s website and posting a fake recruitment notice.

It was gathered that Augustus, a native of Abak Local Government Area in Akwa-Ibom State, was tracked down and arrested by DSS operatives at his residence on Akpan Eno Lane in Abak, Abak LGA, on Thursday.

Augustus had cloned the DSS website on which he created a fake online recruitment notice, apparently with the intent of defrauding unsuspecting members of the public.

The fake recruitment notice had misled many Nigerians into believing that the DSS was conducting a recruitment exercise.

The agency had earlier denied the notice, warning the public to be cautious of such fraudulent announcements.

It was learnt that the suspect will soon be arraigned in court.
