US House Passes Bill To Ban Transgender Athletes In Men’s, Women’s Sports

The United States House of Representatives has passed a bill prohibiting transgender men from competing in men’s sports and transgender women from participating in women’s sports.

Speaker of the House Mike Johnson announced the development on X, stating, “Today is a great day in America because House Republicans just passed @RepGregSteube’s Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act ensuring men cannot compete in women’s sports.

“Men are men, women are women, and men cannot become women. It’s just that simple.”

The move has sparked comparisons to former President Donald Trump’s 2017 policy, when he stated on July 26, 2017, through a series of tweets that “transgender individuals would no longer be allowed to serve in the U.S. military.”

That policy was later overturned under the administration of outgoing President Joe Biden.

Although the stance of incoming President Donald Trump on this new bill remains unclear, there is speculation that he “may re-introduce [a] ban on the transgender in the military.”
