Bill for the Establishment of Orthopedic Hospital in Ibokun, Obokun Local Government:Senator Adenigba Francis Fadahunsi Presented a Memorandum
Assured Osun East Constituents of Speedy Passage of the Bill
In a bid to establish an Orthopedic Hospital in Obokun Local Government, Senator Adenigba Francis Fadahunsi presented a Memorandum at the Public Hearing of the Senate Committee on Health( Secondary and Tertiary) today Thursday 27th February, 2025.
The Bill which was first read at the hallowed chamber on Tuesday, 23rd November 2021 and represented /amended version on Tuesday 8th October, 2024. At the public hearing which have distinguished Senators, invited guess and pressmen present.
Senator Fadahunsi while presenting the Memorandum explained the number of orthopedic hospitals in the country is too low to take care of the demands of the patients requiring orthopedic attention, hence the need for the establishment of the Federal Orthopedic Hospital, Obokun, Osun State.
Senator Fadahunsi said” the establishment of this institution is informed by the urgent need to create a more accessible means for orthopedic needs of the people of Osun State like neighbouring states like Kwara, Oyo, Ondo and Ekiti States. Covering about 30 million people who would travel between 100 to 400 Kilometers to Lagos”.
Senator Fadahunsi highlighted objectives of the Bill which includes to provide easy access and speedy professional care for the increasing orthopedic needs of the people, encourage treatments and correctional surgeries for accident victims particularly motorcycle and tricycle.
Provision of employment opportunities for specialists and discourage brain drain in the field of orthopedic and other related field, reduce in barest minimum the excesses of untrained doctors, to reduce the pressure on only Orthopedic Hospital in region and undertake clinical postings for medical students of the region.
Senator Adenigba Francis Fadahunsi while addressing Pressmen after the Memorandum presentation assured Osun East constituents that the Bill will see the light of the day and while also soliciting for cooperation among his colleagues to speed up the passage of the Bill to law.
