Politicians will likely employ thugs for Campaigns in 2023 – DSS

The Department of State Services (DSS) has issued a warning that politicians may employ thugs during the 2023 election campaign.

Mr. Abdul Enachie, Director of the DSS in Kaduna, stated this in his presentation of the state’s security report for the second and third quarters.

The director stated that the government must take the problem seriously by educating the youths against becoming thugs in the state and the rest of the country.

He also asked the populace to assist the security services in locating informants who enable bandits and terrorists throughout the state and nation.

He stated that identifying informants is not solely the responsibility of security agencies and that everyone should be involved in identifying informants in communities.

In addition, he urged the military to continue their operations against terrorists in Birnin Gwari and other hotspots.

The Director of the DSS also asked the Federal Government to complete the Kaduna-Abuja route and the Birnin Gwari highway, stating that this will improve road safety.

In his speech, Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-rufai asked the security authorities to profile and prosecute all political actors who collaborate with thugs prior to the 2019 elections.
