Ortom’s Commissioner, Dennis Ogbu kidnapped
Chief Dennis Ekpe Ogbu, one of Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State’s Commissioners, has been kidnapped.
The victim, who presently serves as Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, was taken along the Ado-Otukpo route in the state
Ogbu was reportedly driving to his home local government in Ado at 9 p.m. when his assailants forced his Hilux vehicle to stop at Adankari crossroads and abducted him.
While our source has learned that the police have retrieved the Hilux van, the commissioner’s whereabouts remain unclear.
SP Catherine Anene, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), confirmed the occurrence over the phone to our reporter.
“Incident confirmed; we are en route to the scene; I will provide additional details when we arrive,” Anene stated.
Despite repeated government promises that security authorities had the situation under control, kidnappings and murders have increased in several regions of the country.
Last weekend, 46 individuals were abducted in Katsina State alone. Multiple states have reported similar attacks.
Combating insecurity has been at the forefront of political campaigns for 2023.
