West uncomfortable with Buhari’s administration to sell arms, says Tinubu

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC), has stated that the West refuses to supply Nigeria weaponry and technological equipment to combat insecurity because they do not trust President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

Tinubu, however, stated that he can defend Buhari’s claim that national security had improved.

“It has decreased. I will protect him in this regard. The 17 local governments and four states in Nigeria where flags of foreign Jihadists once flew are no longer there, he stated in a BBC interview.

Tinubu, who promised to prioritise security, economic development, and inflation reduction if elected, stated that states previously under the hands of rebels are progressively returning to normalcy.

“Buhari has degraded but not entirely destroyed ISWAP,” he said, noting that it is typically more difficult to restore normalcy to formerly insurgent-ravaged regions.

“Then we briefly discuss lethal weapons, ammunition, and technological equipment that could have sped up the elimination of these guys (Jihadists),” he continued. “However, the West is not yet comfortable enough with the Buhari administration to sell us these weaponry and technologies.”

Tinubu, when asked if the situation will change under his leadership, responded, “It could change or it could not change, but we must examine the alternatives, which is the mass recruitment of individuals into a volunteer army to actually clean up.”

Tinubu declared that he is different when asked what he would do differently as a member of the same ruling APC as President Buhari, which has received mounting criticism for deteriorating living standards and soaring prices.

He stated, “My name is Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I have managed Lagos, and I have created a modern state that could function as a sovereign nation. From N600 million to N5 billion a month in domestically generated revenue, which is a record, none else can claim that accomplishment.

“I have handled and subdued the Atlantic Ocean surge in Nigeria, which would have killed a great number of people in Lagos; the infrastructural reconstruction of Lagos is wonderful…

“Buhari has given his all. I cannot escape the fact that he is my friend and party leader.”
