Again, Stampede Claims 10 Lives In Abuja As Church Distributes Palliatives

The hardship in the country has again caused a similar Stampede strategy as the children who lost their lives in a funfair in Ibadan, has occurred on Saturday morning at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Maitama, Abuja.

At least 10 people were said to have lost their lives in a stampede that ensued as the church distributed palliatives to provide some relief for people during the Yuletide season.

It was learnt that the event had drawn mostly residents of Mpape, Gishiri Village, and other nearby settlements in the Federal Capital Territory.

The Ibadan Children Christmas Funfair incident that occurred on Wednesday had led to the deaths of 35 children according to he Oyo State Police Command. The police said six others were injured in the stampede.

The police said eight persons were arrested over the tragic incident, one of whom was a former wife of the Ooni of Ife, Olori Naomi Silekunola.

The Silekunola was one of the organisers of the event.
