The Senate on Tuesday appealed to Nigerians to be calm and allow the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to complete the 2023 electoral process by declaring all remaining presidential election results.
The appeal by the Upper Chamber followed a motion by Senator Ibrahim Oloriegbe on the floor during plenary.
The Senate on Tuesday resumed plenary after taking a break to allow for the conduct of the Presidential and National Assembly election.
The Upper Chamber also called on INEC to stick to the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022, the Constitution and other relevant laws in its conduct during the remaining part of the 2023 electoral process.
Some agents of political parties on Monday staged a walkout of the 2023 Presidential Election Results Collation Centre in Abuja.
They called for the suspension of results declaration for the presidential election over allegations that INEC failed to electronically transmit results to its server as promised to enable Nigerians unfettered access to them as promised by it.
