ASUU: Osun labour unions join NLC protest
Members of the Nigeria Labour Congress in Osun state on Tuesday, joined the national body in solidarity protest to end the strike action of the Academic Staff Union of Universities.
The protesters who stormed the street carried placards with several inscription such as ‘FG give our children proper education’, ‘Acced to the request of university workers, reopen our universities now, enough is enough’, ‘Let’s join hands together to save public universities from total collapse’, ‘Enough is enough: Govern us, not oppress us’, etc.
Another placard read, “Posterity will judge those who are playing games with the future of Nigeria.”
The unions converged at Ogo Oluwa filing before moving to the state house of assembly, Abere in Osogbo.
The nationwide protest was organised by the Nigeria Labour Congress in solidarity with ASUU over the strike that clocked five months on July 14, 2022.
Some of the unions and associations seen participating in the protest include members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Trade Union Congress (TUC), NULGE and the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
Others are NUPENG, JUSUN, SSANU and NASU.
