Ataga: Chidinma to tell her story Thursday

For the first time since her arraignment on October 12, 2021, for the alleged murder of SuperTV owner Usifo Ataga, prime suspect in the case, Miss Chidinma Ojukwu, will on Thursday tell the Lagos State High Court at the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) her side of the story.

Justice Yetunde Adesanya yesterday fixed the date for the continuation of a trial within trial to ascertain whether the court should admit the confessional statement the police said Ojukwu made in their custody.

The proceedings followed Miss Ojukwu’s contention during proceedings on October 27 that the confession was obtained from her by the police under duress and by inducement.

Police, however, claimed yesterday that Miss Ojukwu “wrote the statement herself”, without any coercion or inducement.

The defendants have been on trial since October 12, 2021.

According to the Lagos State Government which is prosecuting them, the murder took place on June 15, 2021 in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.

The defendants denied the charge.

Justice Yetunde Adesanya adjourned till Thursday, October 17, for Chidinma to testify in the trial within trial.
