The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu has contributed N40 million to the internally displaced persons devastated by the flood in Edo State.
The flood affected around 32,893 people in Etsako Central, Etsako East, and Esan South East local governments of Edo State.
The former governor of Edo state, Adams Oshiomole presented the money on behalf of Tinubu at the IDP camp in the Oghomere community in the Etsako Central local government, stating that Tinubu donated the funds to assist the victims.
Oshiomhole stated that Tinubu planned to come by himself but was unable to due to unforeseen circumstances, and that he had requested him to donate the money on Tinubu’s behalf due to the critical need to assist those affected by the flood.
He stated that the funds were for the individuals whose farms and property were damaged by flooding in the three local governments, regardless of their political affiliation.
“Etsako Central, with over 19,061 casualties, received N20 million; Etsako East, with over 7,742 victims, received N12 million; and Esan South East, with over 6,000 victims, received N8 million.” This is how he assists all the Nigerians devastated by the flood, Oshiomhole stated.
