BREAKING: NLC Gives FG Seven-Day Ultimatum to Reverse Anti-Poor Policies

NLC warns FG of Indefinite Strike

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has given the Federal Government a seven-day ultimatum to reverse all perceived anti-poor policies, including the recent hike in the pump price of petrol, or face an indefinite nationwide strike from August 2.

Daily impact reports that NLC made the decision at its Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting held on Tuesday, July 25, at the Abuja Labour House.

The union said the government’s recent actions, including the hike in the pump price of petrol, the increase in electricity tariff, and the planned removal of fuel subsidy, are insensitive to the plight of the poor and working people.

The NLC warned that if the government fails to meet its demands, it will embark on an indefinite nationwide strike from August 2.

The union also directed all its affiliates and state councils to immediately begin mobilizing workers and other Nigerians, including civil society allies, for a long-lasting strike and mass protests.
