Court Bars PDP From Conducting Congress In Rivers State
The Rivers State High Court has issued a restraining order preventing the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its senior officials from proceeding with a congress in Rivers State pending the resolution of an ongoing lawsuit.
The injunction specifically targets the National Chairman, National Financial Secretary, National Organizing Secretary, and any other representatives of the party involved in the congress proceedings.
The court’s decision effectively halts any plans for a congress in the state, ensuring that no party activities related to the congress will take place until the legal matters before the court are fully addressed.
The lawsuit, which prompted this ruling, remains unresolved, and the court has emphasized the importance of addressing the legal issues before proceeding with any party congress activities in Rivers State.
The PDP is expected to conduct state congresses nationwide on July 27, 2024.
