Dangote Refinery Denies Claims of Payment For Products Delivery from IPMAN

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has refuted claims that it received payments from the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) for purchasing refined petroleum products.

While the refinery acknowledged that discussions are underway with IPMAN, it clarified that it is inaccurate to imply that the Association is facing challenges in loading refined products from its facility, as there are currently no direct business transactions between them.

“In light of this, we cannot be held accountable for any payments made to third parties,” the refinery stated in a press release last night.

The management further noted that any payments in question were processed through the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) rather than directly to the refinery.

Additionally, the refinery emphasized that NNPCL has not authorized or approved the release of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to IPMAN.

“We would like to highlight that we are fully capable of meeting the national demand for all petroleum products, including petrol, diesel, and aviation fuel. Currently, we have the capacity to load 2,900 trucks daily and are also exporting petroleum products by sea.”

The refinery urged IPMAN to register with them and to make direct payments, as they possess more than enough petroleum products to fulfill their members’ needs.

The statement also encouraged all stakeholders to avoid making unfounded assertions in the media, as this could hinder the economic reforms initiated by His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“Conducting business through public speculation is not only unproductive but also unpatriotic. For the good of our country, we ask all stakeholders to collaborate and heed President Tinubu’s advice while promoting a unified approach instead of engaging in media disputes and unnecessary propaganda,” added Anthony Chiejina, Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer of Dangote Group.
