Hoodlums set Ekiti politician Olaojo Vincent’s father ablaze

The home of renowned politician Olaojo Temitope Vincent’s father has been set on fire by some unnamed political goons.

Vincent, a previous candidate for the Ekiti House of Assembly in the Oye I district, campaigned against party officials in an attempt to secure the party’s ticket for state legislature.

According to information received, the event took place in Irona Quarters, Oye-Ekiti, on Friday night, May 19, 2023.

Recall that on April 13, 2023, Hon. Faniyi, an ex-House of Representatives aspirant, alleged that some political thugs loyal to Olaojo Temitope Vincent attacked his residence, leading to the killing of one domestic staff member.

Adereti Samuel, an eyewitness, described how the criminals broke into the house, began stealing the occupants’ goods, and then set fire to the place.

The local resident, Samuel further revealed that the thugs arrived armed with axes, foam, cutlasses, and petrol.

A very dejected Kayode added that they had taken videos of the property, looted some things, and pulled Mama Kemi—a woman who was the only occupant of the building—out of it.

Another witness, known only as Dolapo, disclosed that if Hon. Vincent did not stop meddling in local politics through his political crony, Ige Adebayo, who was vying for APC House of Assembly tickets in 2023, the thugs would plot more crimes and destroy more properties owned by him or his family. This information was provided while he was overseas.

As of the time of filing this report, firefighters were yet to arrive at the scene, but the police had dispersed the thugs.
