JUST-IN: DSS Uncovers Plot To Stage Violent Protests In Nigeria
The DSS, in a press release issued and signed by Peter Afunanya, Ph.D, fsi, Public Relations Officer, Department of State Services, National Headquarters, Abuja, on Monday, revealed that intelligence reports have indicated that some elements in parts of the country plans to stage violent protests in order to discredit the Federal Government and security agencies over sundry socio-economic matters.
According to the statement, the plotters include certain politicians who are desperately mobilising unsuspecting student leaders, ethnic based associations, youth and disgruntled groups for the planned action.
The DSS said it has identified the ring leaders of the plot and is monitoring them closely to deter them from plunging the country into anarchy.
The DSS also advised university vice-chancellors and heads of tertiary institutions to discourage their students from engaging in acts capable of derailing public peace.
The statement was signed by Peter Afunanya, Ph.D, fsi, Public Relations Officer, Department of State Services, National Headquarters, Abuja.
