#JusticeForTomiwa: FSS SUG Demands Explanation, Compensation After Factory Machine Crushed Student To Death

The Students’ Union Government of Federal School of Statistics, Ibadan has demanded thorough investigation and compensation over death of Koleosho Tomiwa, an HND 1 student of the school who was crushed to death by industrial machine at UI water factory.

In a press release by SUG said the student, Koleosho Tomiwa was crushed to death by a falling object at UI water premises.

Stating his 3 demands with ultimatum, the Union stated that concern authority should addressed death of Tomiwa or face further action.

Federal School of Statistics Student Union Government Issues Ultimatum to UI Water Following Tragic Incident Involving Our Student, Koleosho Tomiwa

The Federal School of Statistics Student Union Government is devastated by the tragic passing of Koleosho Tomiwa, a student of Business Administration and Management HND 1, in an incident that occurred on 24th of November 2023 within the premises of UI Water. Our heartfelt condolences go out to Koleosho Tomiwa’s family and friends during this difficult time.

This incident, involving a falling object related to UI Water’s operations, raises significant concerns regarding the safety and well-being of individuals within the vicinity. The Federal School of Statistics Student Union Government, on behalf of the student body, is issuing the following three-point agenda to UI Water:

1. Proper Explanation:

We demand a comprehensive and transparent explanation of the circumstances leading to the tragic incident. The Federal School of Statistics Student Union Government, along with the family of Koleosho Tomiwa, seeks clarity on the events that transpired on that fateful day.

2. Implementation of Safety Measures:

We insist that UI Water promptly puts in place all necessary protective materials and safety measures to prevent a recurrence of such a tragic incident. The safety and well-being of individuals, including students, faculty, and staff, must be a top priority.

3. Compensation for the Family:

Federal School of Statistics Student Union Government urges UI Water to initiate discussions regarding fair compensation for the family of Koleosho Tomiwa. This compensation is not only a legal and ethical obligation but also a gesture of responsibility and empathy toward those affected by this tragic incident.

The Federal School of Statistics Student Union Government is providing a seven-day ultimatum for UI Water to respond to these demands.

Failure to address these concerns within the stipulated timeframe will compel us to take further actions to safeguard the rights and well-being of our students and the broader community.
