KDI sensitize youths on E-parliament platform usage

E-parliament platform has been described as an that is would help enhance trust in legislative duties and promote citizen-legislative interaction.

The Senior Program Manager of Kimpact Development Initiave, KDI, Mr. Oluwafemi Adebayo, stated this in Iwo on Thursday, during a Legislative townhall meeting held to sensitized the general public about Osun State House of Assembly E-parliament platform.

The sensitization program was organized by Kimpact Development Initiative, KDI, in collaboration with Osun State House of Assembly and International Republican Institute, IRI.

He stated that the facility would assist in ensuring good partnership between the State Government, House of Assembly and the citizens.

While Unboxing the e-Parliament platform, Adebayo noted that E-parliament is a framework that is necessary to make the citizens get more understanding about the legislative process.

 

“E-parliament is an electronic means through which the legislative house will be able to reach out to the citizens. As citizen, we need to start asking our lawmakers questions about what we sent them to do.

“We have been on it for the past 6 months and on last week, the speaker of the house of assembly launched the platform in Osogbo.

“We have designed various tabs to help guide us through whatever we want to do on the platform”.

Recall that, the Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly, Timothy Owoeye, on Wednesday lastweek, launched a website where information about the parliament and activities at the plenary could be accessed.

The facility was launched to ensure easy access to the legislative activities by the public.

It would also make known the processing of a bill before becoming a law as well as allow the people contribute their opinion virtually, during Public Hearing of a bill.
