Kogi 2023: Ajaka pledges to empower Kogi women with N15bn

Kogi state Social Democratic Party (SDP) gubernatorial candidate, Alhaji Murtala Yakub Ajaka, has promised to empower Kogi state women with N15 billion if elected as Kogi state governor in the November 11, 2023 governorship election.

Speaking when the Team Muri/Sam Kogi statewide consultation was welcomed to a carnival-like reception by a mammoth crowd at Ibaji local government area, Muri, who lamented the “infrastructural decay and high rate of poverty ravaging Ibaji LGA due to the leadership deficit in the state”, promised to “empower women in the state, build roads, develop education facilities and healthcare services, as well as, provide rural electrification across the state.

A statement signed by the Director New Media, Muri/Sam Campaign Council, Hon. Isaiah Davis Ijele, and made available to Blueprint, said, “Hon. Ajaka, who first met traditional rulers in Ibaji local government to seek their royal blessings ahead of the campaign, was overwhelmed by the mammoth crowd and monstrous show of love by the people. Muri pledged that when elected as governor, he would empower 30,000 women with N500,000 each as part of his plans to reawaken economic activities in Kogi state.

While unveiling his developmental plans for the area, Muri described Ibaji Local Government as one of the most blessed with natural resources. This he premised on the availability of fertile farmland, rivers, crude oil deposits and energetic men and women capable of turning the misfortune of the area into fortune given the enabling environment to thrive and deploy the wealth of the local government for great good.

The gubernatorial candidate also vowed to construct the road linking Ibaji to Idah to ease transportation for enhanced agricultural and economic activities in the area. He promised that the people of Ibaji would not be left out since his commitment was to build a Kogi state that works for all. Alhaji Murtala Ajaka pointed out that the 13% derivation for oil-producing states from the monthly federal allocation shall be judiciously deployed into making the local government and indeed Kogi state proud of all.

Also speaking, the Chairman, of Muri/Sam Campaign Council, Col. S. Babanawa (rtd), thanked the people for their warm reception and assured them of a breath of fresh air under Murtala’s tenure.

The Director General of the Campaign Council, Hon Sheikh Ibrahim, assured the people that when Muri is voted into power, his administration shall ensure that Ibaji gets access to affordable healthcare services, standard schools and proper rural electrification.

The Campaign Youth Leader, Hon. Ahmed Attah, who expressed optimism that the party is coasting to victory, urged the people to keep their PVCs safe and to vote massively for the SDP in the November 11, 2023, Kogi State Governorship election, and to protect their votes from electoral scavengers, who are bent on plunging the state into another eight years of Yahaya Bello’s treacherous third term agenda.

Some of the residents described Muri as the angel that God had sent to lead them to the promised land after years of hardship at the hands of the present administration. Some residents, could not hold their tears because “it is a rare privilege to visualise the light at the end of the tunnel.

They promised to deliver 90% votes for Alhaji Murtala Yakub Ajaka MURI and prayed for God’s protection of him.
