Macron, Biden pledge to hold Russia accountable for “war crimes” in Ukraine

In a meeting at the White House on Thursday, U.S. President Joe Biden and French President Emmanuel Macron reaffirmed their alliance to resist Russia’s invasion of Ukraine while also acknowledging concerns about dealing with the economic strain of the war.

This state visit between the United States and France is the first since 2021, when Trump took office, and it is being hosted by President Joe Biden. More than 200 years of U.S.-French relations were commemorated by Biden and his wife Jill greeting Macron and his wife Brigitte with embraces, kisses, and broad smiles.
