Marriage Palava takes leads comedy as skit at Terra Kulture

Chukwuemeka Nonso Victor Ige, popularly known as Saint Envi, is being staged on Saturday, November 11, at the Terra Kulture, Lagos.

It’s on this premise that Marriage Palava, a comedy stage play by comedian and on-air personality.

Speaking on the performance, Saint Envi said it came out of personal experience and the experiences of couples he interviewed on his radio and TV shows. He noted that a lot of marriages are collapsing by the day, stressing that a friend of his got married, and a week later they both decided to end the marriage without any reason.

He said, its alarming how marriage as an institution has now been regarded as just a wedding ceremony, and where you don’t want to be in it anymore, you can opt out. It’s not what our parents practiced, as they were willing to die for each other to make their marriages work. Marriage has become a ceremonial event, not a lifetime.

So, Marriage Palava is comically carved to tackle the reasons many marriages and relationships fail. It is not to diss anyone, but to make people see that there are other good sides to their spouses and rather than focus on their weaknesses.

Saint Envi said we want people to go back home from the show and begin to see marriage in another light, not from the perspective they feel it is, because a lot of couples entered marriage with the wrong mindset.
