Mass Defection Hits Labour Party, PDP, NNPP As Thousands Of Members Defect To APC In Plateau

In a significant political shift in Plateau State, thousands of Labour Party members from the Northern zone have officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing the party’s people-oriented policies and development-focused agenda as their motivation.
The mass defection, which took place on Monday at the APC State Secretariat in Kalwa House, Jos, was led by Barrister Gyang Zi SAN, the former Labour Party senatorial candidate for Plateau North.
This was contained in a statement by acting Publicity Secretary of the APC, Shittu Bamaiyi and made available to journalists on Wednesday .
Speaking during the visit to the State Working Committee of the APC, Barr. Zi said the decision followed careful observation and analysis of the APC’s trajectory in both state and national politics.
He further explained that the defectors were ready to build, consolidate, and mobilize support for the APC in future elections .
“After due diligence and consideration, we came to the conclusion that the APC is the ultimate platform for the socio-economic development of our people,” he said.
“Our move is driven by the conviction that APC’s people-centered policies and programmes outshine those of other political parties currently in power. We are here to contribute to the party’s success at all levels,” Zi stated.
Receiving the defectors with enthusiasm, the State Chairman of the APC, Rt. Hon. Rufus Bature, described the development as a “political milestone” in the history of the Northern zone.
He assured the new members of full integration into the party and encouraged them to take advantage of the various opportunities available within the APC.
“Today marks a turning point in the politics of the Northern zone. The coming of these Labour Party stalwarts and their supporters has completely altered the political equation and arithmetic of the zone.
“You are now full members of the APC and will enjoy all the rights and privileges due to every bonafide member,” he said.
