Missing Osun chief found killed, dumped in forest
The Osun State Police Command has arrested four people suspected to have been involved in the killing of a community leader in Ora town, Osun State, Chief Oladepo Asaolu.
Asaolu’s decomposing body was found in a forest days after he was declared missing.
The victim was said to have left his house at Kereja, Ora, on October 5 for an undisclosed location.
The Osun State Police Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola, in a statement in Osogbo on Monday confirmed that the body was discovered buried in Akisa Forest, Ora, after the motorcyclist that conveyed him on the day he went missing was identified and arrested by the police.
Opalola said, “The son of Chief Oladepo Asaolu reported to the police that on October 5, his father left his house at Kereja, Ora-Igbomina, with an unknown commercial motorcyclist and did not return after four days.
“Upon investigation, the arrest of the motorcyclist, Sunday Johnson, was made and he confessed that Asaolu was killed and dumped in the forest.
“The DPO led operatives and vigilantes in search of Akisa Forest, Ora-Igbomina, where the victim was found decomposing. The arrest of Sunday Johnson led to the arrest of three others who have confessed to their involvement in the abduction and killing of the victim. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Bureau for further action.”
