Mohbad: Police detain Sam larry, Naira marly associate
The Lagos State police have detained Samson Erinfolami Balogun Eletu, popularly known as Sam Larry, for inquiries into the ongoing investigation of Mohbad’s death.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos State police command, disclosed this via his verified X handle late Thursday 28th September 2023.
Sam Larry is among the suspected individuals linked to the events that may have led to the young Afrobeats musician’s death.
The police are conducting a hire-powered investigation, which has led to the exhumation of the deceased’s body that was buried barely a day after he passed away.
Also, the police have initiated investigations to uncover the circumstances surrounding the 27-year-old artist’s death. An autopsy has already been completed after his remains were exhumed last Thursday.
Mohbad’s mysterious death on September 12 has been tied to reported struggles with depression and other mental health issues, possibly stemming from his controversial exit from his former record label, Marlian Records, owned by Naira Marley.
Recall that the Lagos State judiciary has also announced a coroner’s inquest, due to commence on Friday (today), into the matter, at the instance of a human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria.
Meanwhile, a video shared by the controversial gossip blog, Gistlover, shows Sam Larry in a hoodie, closely accompanied by the police.
Similarly, Naira Marley, said he would be returning to Nigeria shortly to clear his name, while also assuring that he would cooperate with the police in their bid to unravel the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death.
