Olubadan kingmaker dies at 79

Oyo kinship council has lost one of the kingmaker who voted the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin.

The Otun Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Lateef Adebimpe, died on Wednesday evening at the age of 79.

He was one of the beaded crown-wearing high chiefs who was elevated to the status of Oba.

A close confidant to the deceased told Vanguard that he would have been 80 by September this year.

While speaking with Vanguard on the demise of the Ibadan king, the source said that despite the fact that he had prepared a speech for the recent installation and coronation of the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, he couldn’t attend the ceremony.

The source said, “Prior to the coronation of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, he called me to prepare a speech for him, which I did.”

“But I later discovered that he couldn’t attend the ceremony. I called his phone three times on different days, but he didn’t pick. Again, on one Tuesday, I called him again. He still didn’t pick. I just concluded that he would call me back.”

“Unlike him, he didn’t return my call. Only for someone to tell me that he died on Wednesday evening”.

Details later…..
