One Shot As NCS, Police Officers Fight Dirty At Alimosho Passport Office
An officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has been shot at the Alimosho Passport Office in Lagos.
It was gathered that the officer was shot during a fight between Immigration Officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force who were on duty around the axis, preventing people from accessing the passport office.
Osun Defender reliably gathered that officials at the passport office had tried to investigate why there was a heavy presence of policemen around its office before the squabble began.
In a video circulating online, some mobile policemen were seen harassing a young man for alleged “illegal turning,” which led members of the public around the area to alert Immigration officers to the scene.
It also showed men of the Immigration Service ”assaulting’ a police officer accused of engaging in an “illegal duty” in the area.
The situation, Osun Defender further gathered later resulted in the firing of gunshots by the two agencies, resulting in the shooting of a NIS official, who has now been taken to the hospital for treatment.
As at the time of filing this report, residents were seen in various videos alerting the presence of the military and other sister security agencies to calm frayed nerves.
Some enrollees at the passport office have also reportedly fled due to the intensity of the gunshots.
