OSHA Approves Bill Aimed at Providing Benefits to Officers in the Assembly

Osun State House of Assembly has set a record which is first of its kind by stamping a Bill designed to lessen the enormous responsibilities in the clerk’s office.

The Bill “Osun State House of Assembly Service Commission (Establishment) (Amendment No 4) Bill 2024 is a private member Bill sponsored by Chief Whip and Chairman, Committee on House Service Matters, Ethics and Privileges for the 8th Assembly, Hon. Olawale Akerele representing Ilesa West State Constituency.

Recalled the Bill was presented to the House on 25th March, 2004 and it’s policy trust unveiled to make provisions for the appointment and remuneration for the positions of Deputy Clerks in the House of Assembly with a view to assisting the Clerk of the House in his expansive responsibilities and serves as motivation for benefitting officers which will further enhance effectiveness and service delivery among others.

The Bill revealed that the Clerk of the House may be assisted by not more than three deputy Clerks from among the serving Directors in the Assembly Service and must not be below thirteen equipped with adequate knowledge of administrative or Legislative business of the House of Assembly.

The Speaker, Rt Hon Adewale Egbedun later announced that the Bill will be forwarded to the governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke for assent.

Similarly, on the floor of the House, Osun State Local Government Amendment No 1 Bill was read for the first time.

Then House dissolved into committee of a whole in continuation of amendments and corrections on Osun State Roads Fund Bill 2024 and has been completed.

However, aside plenary, Hon Lawrence Adeoti representing South State Constituency reminded other lawmakers of the ten years remembrance of the father of the Rt. Hon Speaker, Late Prince

Adebisi Egbedun who died on 17th April, 2014. He prayed that God to continue to grant him eternal rest.

The House later adjourned till Tuesday 23rd April, 2024.
