Osun Agency for Control of HIV/Aids Set to Distribute Medical Items Across the State
The Osun State Agency for the Control of HIV/AIDS (O’SACA) has finalized preparations to distribute essential medical items to citizens across every corner of the state.
The items to be distributed include, but are not limited to, HIV test kits, methylated spirits, latex gloves, sharp boxes, lancets, cotton wool, helmets, and hard rubber gloves. When properly utilized, these items will play a crucial role in significantly reducing the spread of HIV within the community at large and among healthcare workers in particular.
In an official statement, the Executive Secretary of O’SACA, Dr. Olusegun Daramola, expressed his gratitude to Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke for fulfilling his promise by ensuring the release of the necessary funds to procure these vital items for distribution.
The medical supplies will be distributed to all Local Government Agencies for the Control of HIV/AIDS (LACA), which operate as replicas of the state agency with the same mission of ending AIDS by 2030. Additionally, key implementing partners will also receive these items.
The distribution event is scheduled to take place at the O’SACA office, located at 79, Odiolowo Street, Osogbo, at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, 3rd September 2024. Dignitaries expected to grace the occasion include the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun; Commissioner for Health Barr Jola Akintola, Chairman of the House Committee on Health, Hon. Kasope Abolarin; Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Health, Dr. Akintunde Akindele; Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Isiaka Adekunle; NEPHWAN Coordinator, Sister Rose Awoyemi; and representatives from Excellence Community and Education Welfare Scheme, Mrs. Seunfunmi Adefiranye, and Damien Foundation, Osun State.
The agency calls on the general public to assist the government in reducing the spread of HIV by adhering to simple preventive measures such as abstinence, faithfulness, and the appropriate use of condoms. O’SACA also takes this opportunity to remind the public to avoid discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS.
