Osun APC Youth condemns attack on party members in Ikire

...urges politicians to shun violence

The Osun State Chapter of APC Youth has condemned the attack on party members and innocent businessmen in Ikire during the senatorial campaign of the party yesterday.

This attack is one of many that has occurred since the inauguration of the PDP government in Osun which is aimed at disrupting the peaceful atmosphere in Osun and causing great panic amongst the people.

Speaking on behalf of the group, the  Leader, Goke Akinwemimo said the attack has caused great loss to businesses, many people got injured. Also an innocent entertainer in the town who was carrying out his business as a DJ contracted for the rally was totally destroyed as his vehicle and musical instruments were all destroyed by the hoodlums.

According to him, “This attack is just one of many that has happened and many more has been billed to happen over the course of the election cycle. If the Osun State Commissioner of Police continue to look away as he has done so far, this matter may degenerate into chaos.

“Election periods have always witnessed series of violence, but that was not the case during the last gubernatorial election which was conducted under the government of Alhaji Isiaka Oyetola and the APC government of Osun in times past. We must say categorically that our party is known to be loving and do not encourage any form of violence. We must enjoin the PDP to be more civil and allow the people to decide with votes on Election Day. We must reiterate that no one has a monopoly of violence and Osun must not be turned to a state of bloodbath.

“We call on the commissioner of Police in Osun to rise up and perform his duties before we start calling on higher authorities to look into the case of Osun.

“I wish to reiterate that the office of the APC Youth Leader in the state of Osun will continue to preach peace to the teeming supporters of our party and enjoin the youths of Osun to shun violence and refuse to be used as pawns by daredevil politicians whose sole aim is not to serve the people but their pockets”.
