Osun Assembly launches E-Parliament platform

The Osun State of House of Assembly on Wednesday launched its E-Parliament platform to ensure easy access to the legislative activities by the public.

The Speaker of the Assembly, Hon. Timothy Owoeye stated this while launching the E- Parliament at the House of Assembly Complex Osogbo

Owoeye acknowledged the efforts of Kimpact Development Initiative (KDI) for putting everything together and noted that the e-Parliament would enhance the standard of the Assembly for the present global era.

He said that e-Parliament platform would make known the processing of a bill before becoming a law as well as allow the people contribute their opinion virtually, during Public Hearing of a bill.

The Speaker stressed that the launching of the e-Parliament in the State House of Assembly would enhance trust in legislative duties.

Earlier in a welcome address, the Team Leader of Kimpact Development Initiave, Mr. Bukola Idowu noted that E-parliament would ensure good partnership between the State Government, House of Assembly and the citizens.

In his Goodwill message, the Commissioner for Science Innovation and Information Communication Technology, Dr. Olawale Babatunde maintained that the e-Parliament project is in accordance with present Technology as the world is now on the palm of people’s hand.

While Unboxing the e-Parliament platform, the Senior Programme Manager Kimpact Development Initiative, KDI, Mr. Oluwafemi Adebayo noted that E-parliament is a framework that is necessary to make the citizens get more understanding about the legislative process.
