Osun Assembly presides over LG Budget defence Exercise

.... employs Strict Budget compliance....

Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly has retierated the unwavering determination of the Osun 8th assembly towards ensuring proper accountability of the state funds.

 

 

Rt. Hon Adewale Egbedun made this statement while delivering his opening address at the opening ceremony in the chamber at the commencement of the Local Government Areas 2025 Budget defence Exercise.

 

In the same vein, the Chairman, Finance and Appropriation, Hon. Saheed Fatunmise, while giving his address noted that prudent financial management is not just an exercise but a necessity.

 

Adding that “Osun State House of Assembly House committee on Finance and Appropriation is to guide our financial planning and ensure the dividend of democracy are benefitted by the people. Addressing the needs of diverse communities that we serve”.

According to Rt. Hon Adewale Egbedun opening address, He noted the closeness of the LG to the Grassroot, “hence the reason for LG Budget defence Exercise to necessitate prudence in executing the budget and living up to the expectation of the people” he added.

The budget exercise which commenced today, Monday 16th December continues today 17th December 2024.

However, Fifteen local governments including ; Atakumosa East LG, Ila LG, Atakumosa West LG, Ede South LG, Ede North LG, Irepodun LG, Isokan LG, Osogbo LG, Orolu LG, Ilesha East LG, Ife North LG, Ife South LG, Olorunda LG, Irewole LG and Ifelodun LG appeared on the first day.

However, the Chairman House Committee on Finance and Appropriation in his closing remarks implores the LG who had presented their budget that strict compliance of the Budget is sacrosant as the house of Assembly will perform oversight functions to the effect.

 

The budget exercise will continue Tuesday with the budget defence of the remaining 15 LG.
