Osun Govt Set up Committee for Retrieval Of Assets, Vehicles Allegedly Carted Away By Ex-Govt Officials
The Osun State Government Taskforce on Recovery of Assets and Government Project Vehicles has directed government agencies to commence the retrieval of government assets and project vehicles allegedly carted away by officials of the immediate past administration in the state.
The Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Teslim Igbalaye, who is also the Chairman of the Asset Recovery Committee gave the directive at press conference in the state on Tuesday.
Igbalaye said the government has so far reviewed some of the issues involved in the asset recovery process.
The SSG, who provided an update to newsmen on the findings of the committee since it was inaugurated on February 14, 2024, said Governor Ademola Adeleke is not undertaking a witch-hunt with the asset recovery process.
He said from investigations, the decision of former Governor Gboyega Oyetola to allow members of the State Executive Council under his administration to take their official vehicles – Kia Sportage, allocated to them while in office home was done with due process.
Igbalaye, however, noted that the letters of permission issued to them came with irregularities.
The SSG further stated that efforts were ongoing to retrieve the assets and government vehicles carted away by the former cabinet members not captured as approved by the immediate past governor, in the interest of transparency and accountability.
Igbalaye, therefore, reiterated the commitment of Governor Adeleke’s administration to run “a people-friendly government, with keen interest on probity and proper management of public funds.
