Osun lawmaker, IREKANDU, Empowers 200 Obokun Women Entrepreneurs

Hon. Adewumi Adeyemi, Irekandu gathered 200 women between the ages of 18-35 in Obokun Constituency for a two-day entrepreneurship training by the Enterprise Development Centre, Pan Atlantic University.

It is evident that the small business society in Nigeria is predominantly composed of women, yet sustainability and growth into larger-scale enterprises remain challenging and aiming to change the narrative, Hon. Adewumi Adeyemi gather Women in Obokun Constituency for entrepreneurship training initiative.

The initiative, which began this week, aims to equip participants with essential entrepreneurial knowledge and skills, fostering economic self-reliance and sustainable development.

The initial phase of the program saw 200 young women selected from a large pool of applicants to participate in a two-day intensive training session.

The training is designed to provide practical knowledge and skills necessary for successful entrepreneurship, reflecting a commitment to the belief that true empowerment begins with education and skill acquisition.

 

The founder of Adewumi Adeyemi Foundation, Honourable Adewumi Adeyemi, also known as Irekandu, a member of the Osun State House of Assembly representing Obokun State Constituency, expressed his dedication to fostering an environment that supports education, innovation, and sustainable development.

This training program is the first step in a broader empowerment strategy. We received about a thousand applications from around the constituency, and while 200 young women were selected for this phase, the program will continue in subsequent batches of 200 participants each,” Adeyemi explained.

 

He also thanked the EDC for their invaluable collaboration and support, emphasising the long-term benefits of the program.

I am committed to continuing this initiative and supporting these young women in their business ventures. The impact of this program will continue for years to come,” he added.

The entrepreneurship training program underscores the commitment of the Adewumi Adeyemi Foundation and its partners to empower young women through education and skill development, ultimately contributing to the economic growth and development of the Obokun State Constituency.
