Osun NSCDC parades 33-year-old plumber for burglary

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, Osun State Command, on Monday paraded a suspect, Olamilekan Gbenga for unlawful entry into the house of Hon. Akinwale and made away with a television set, two pairs of shoe, a laptop, some pieces of clothes and a keg of palm oil.

33-year-old Olamilekan, single, a plumber, native of Ilesa was said to have been working for the Complainant, Hon. Akinwale for over six years.

While parading the suspect at the state command of the Corps, the NSCDC Commandant, Sunday Agboola, represented by the Acting Public Relations Officer of the command, Kehinde Adeleke, stated that, “the case was reported to the Intelligence and Investigation Department of NSCDC, State Headquarters, Osogbo by the Area Commander of Osun East “A” Area Command, Ilesha.

She explained that the suspect gained access to the house because he was the one who do help to repair the faulty plumbing pipes and other connections in the six flat apartments of the Complainant.

According to her, “the suspect allegedly gained access to the complainant’s house and carted away his television, a laptop, two pairs of canvas, kitchen utensils and a keg of palm oil.

Meanwhile, “Upon handling over of the suspect alongside the exhibits, he was thereafter taking to the interview room where he volunteered a confessional statement admitting his culpability of the alleged crime.”

 

Adeleke added that investigation is still ongoing, after which the suspect will be charged to court for prosecution.

While speaking with newsmen, the suspect confirmed that he committed the offence and perpetrated the act with intention of returning the items after making use of them.

According to him, “I am a close ally to Honourable (Akinwale) and we use to hang out together. Truly, I stole the items and returned them immediately after I finished using them that same day.

“Unfortunately Honorable wasn’t around then, so I sent him a text message to notify him that have returned the items but I was later apprehended.”
