Osun Govt. Declares July 8 Public Holiday

The Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has approved Monday, July 8, 2024, a work-free day in commemoration of the Islamic New Year, Hijrah 1446AH.

In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Hon. R.K Aderibigbe on Thursday,
the governor appealed to all Islamic faithful to use the period of the celebration to pray for peace, progress and development of the State and Nigeria as a whole.

The statement read, “This is to inform the general public that His Excellency the Governor of Osun State Dr. Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke has declared Monday 8th July 2024 as a public holiday to celebrate Islamic New Year Hijirah 1446AH.

“His Excellency, the Governor of Osun State is also using this medium to appeal to all Islamic faithful to use the period of the celebration to pray for peace, progress and development of the State and Nigeria as a whole.”
