(PICS) Thugs invade school hostels, steal over 30 phones in Ilesa
Thugs are not ghosts. Ask officers who entertain them at night”, crime expert fumes

In the early hours of Saturday, March 1, 2025, more than 10 thugs armed with cutlasses broke into hostels occupied by University of Ilesa students in the Imola neighborhood, snatching over 30 mobile phones and accessories from them.
According to reports, these thugs forced their way into these hostels between 4 and 5 a.m. to steal phones and other valuables.
According to sources, the burglars removed light bulbs, smashed some windows and doors, and injured students.
A student who prefers anonymity stated that one of the intruders hit him and forcibly removed his phone from the socket into which he had plugged it.
According to the student, the invader who smacked him is a political thug he encountered in the Ilesa Metropolis in early February while shopping at Sabo market.
They were unable to cause significant damage before the Dean of Student Affairs and security officials, mainly police, arrived at the crime scene. No one was raped or sexually assaulted. They simply took away phones and other valuable goods, he said.
Another student described how the robbers (thugs) broke into his own hostel and attacked pupils who attempted to oppose them.
“They hit my colleague in the head and slammed him against the wall. It was a tragic scene, but I’m glad they didn’t rape anyone.”
Reacting to the tragic incident, a crime analyst known as Wale revealed that the heist was not a surprise attack because stranded political hoodlums will undoubtedly find a way to survive given the State’s existing security condition.
According to Wale, students’ hostels continue to be soft targets for thieves looking to rob for survival, and it’s remarkable that these crooks could effortlessly disarm the school’s security mechanisms to rob these students.
Wale claimed that there is an unholy alliance between some police personnel and politicians, especially political thugs, in Ilesa, which has continued to fuel violent confrontations and crime in the area.
“Our ears are full.” People are speaking loudly, but they continue to disregard them. These thugs are from Ilesa metropolis, particularly Idasa and we know the Division it falls under. A top police officer cannot party with thugs, fraudsters, or criminals at night while frowning on infractions or crimes during the day. You cannot frown upon criminal incidents that you permitted during the day. That’s why I wasn’t surprised by the attack”.
“It is intentionally hurtful that the police, whose role it is to prevent crime, tolerate the unholy relationship between his officers and these criminals at night. These thugs aren’t ghosts. Those who accommodate them at night should be able to direct them during the day, he concluded.
