Reuben Fasoranti: Adebanjo is still Afenifere’s acting leader
Pa Reuben Fasoranti, the head of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation Afenifere, has made it clear that Pa Ayo Adebanjo is still the group’s acting leader.
As for claims that Fasoranti said Adebanjo was no longer the party leader, he flatly denied those as well.
After endorsing the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a conflict has erupted inside the organisation.
In another viral video, Pa Fasoranti is seen questioning Adebanjo’s choice to back Peter Obi of the Labour Party.
On Thursday, Fasoranti made a statement through his personal assistant, Mr. Adedapo Abiola, in which he claimed that he had been misrepresented in the media.
There was a statement released that read, “Papa Reuben Fasonranti is aware that some sectors of the media, particularly the social media, have been attributing to him false words aimed to generate confusion and polarise Afenifere.”
For the record, and with Papa’s blessing, I will state that he has not announced that Chief Ayo Adebanjo is no longer the acting leader of Afenifere or that all future Afenifere meetings must henceforth be held at his mansion in Akure.
When it comes to the tense political climate in Nigeria, “Papa’s major concern is the interest of the Yoruba. He cares that Afenifere maintains its respectability and continues to advocate for the Yoruba people.
